eagles foles on browns, philadelphia, philly

So, what were the Eagles really offered for Super Bowl MVP quarterback Nick Foles?

The NFL equivalent of a fishcake!

The Cleveland Browns offered the 35th overall pick in the 2018 draft to the Eagles for Foles. But when they asked Foles about it, he told them he’d rather stay in Philly and back up starter Carson Wentz.

Foles, 29, who took over the starting job when Wentz tore a knee ligament in December, led the team to its first Super Bowl title. In April, the team redid his contract to give him a $2 million bonus and a chance to earn up to $14 million in incentives.

The deal made Foles the NFL’s highest-paid backup quarterback.

The Browns eventually went in a different direction in their search for a starter, acquiring veteran quarterback Tyrod Taylor from the Buffalo Bills and selecting Heisman Trophy winner Baker Mayfield of Oklahoma with the first overall pick in the draft.

FASTPHILLYSPORTS.COM separates itself from the other Philadelphia blogs that provide Philly sports news because we do not accept the conventional wisdom, which is what the teams want you to believe even if a simple eye test tells you not to.
