The 49ers claimed Igwebuike off waivers and he played in five games down the stretch, recording one special teams tackle. Igwebuike was released by the 49ers on Monday.
The 24-year-old native of Pickerington, Ohio played in 50 games (43 starts) at Northwestern. He posted 324 tackles, 31 pass deflections, and seven interceptions in four seasons. He was a two-time second-team All-Big Ten selection for the Wildcats.
