Maybe it was the glow of finally making the Pro Bowl and maybe Eagles defensive end Fletcher Cox really believes the Birds will beat the Redskins Saturday night:
“Yeah, it was one of my goals [to be a Pro Bowler], but I think the biggest relief will be when we win on Saturday,” Cox said after practice on Wednesday.
A reporter followed up by asking if the Eagles defensive line was guaranteeing a win.
“Yeah, I’m guaranteeing a win,” Cox said. “What am I supposed to say? That I think we’re going to lose or something? No.
The Eagles must win this game to keep their playoff hopes alive. If they lose, Washington will clinch the NFC East.
Cox isn’t the first Eagles player to display confidence in winning this week. Immediately after Philadelphia’s loss to the Cardinals, Mychal Kendricks said “the Redskins got something coming to them.”
