The Eagles are due to officially introduce Michael Bennett today as the newest member of the Super Bowl champs.
And there may be another Bennett on the horizon.
Sirius XM NFL analyst and former NFL player Kirk Morrison is reporting Martellus Bennett is trying to reunite in Philly with brother Michael now that the Birds have cut tight end Brett Celek and free agent Trey Burton has signed with the Bears.
The 30-year-old Bennett was claimed by the New England Patriots off waivers after the Green Bay Packers Packers released him in the middle of last season. Bennett had 30 catches for 286 yards and no touchdowns last season in just nine games. The Patriots played him in injured reserve due to a shoulder and hamstring injury.
A Pro Bowler in 2014, Bennett has 433 catches for 4,573 yards and 30 touchdowns in nine NFL seasons with the Patriots, Packers, Dallas Cowboys, New York Giants, and the Chicago Bears.
His best seasons came in Chicago, where he had 208 catches for 2,114 yards and 14 touchdowns from 2013 to 2015 when current Eagles offensive coordinator Mike Groh was wide receiver coach.
